OK, so it's June and summertime! Triple digit days are upon us. Most of you know I love complaining a little about the heat and humidity! Lol. So I’m going to be positive and tell you some simple things I love about this weather. Watermelon, farmers markets, a cup of crushed ice, grilling, iced coffee, longer daylight hours, fireflies, growing a few vegetables and herbs, driving my truck with the top down, and riding our bicycle built for two in the neighborhood with the hubby. No matter how tough things are, I make it a habit to celebrate small things. There is always something you can celebrate and be thankful for.
“Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair...”
I am trying to simplify my life. It seems like people everywhere are so stressed out and probably for good reasons or maybe not. Oh life & its demands. Work, emails, performance. That’s all necessary, but we sometimes forget how to relax. What happened to living simple? I am working on this too. (we are all a work in progress).
Trying to remove some things from my life, to simplify, declutter…on purpose! Just the real things that matter are what I want to take up my time. Sure I know there are things you HAVE to do to live but.... it’s good to eliminate those things that don’t much matter.
Here are some things I’m working on: MORE SLEEP...I’m more productive and feel better. Also, I like to take a few minutes before I begin my day with a little meditation/prayer. It just puts me in the right mindset. FOOD...Good nutrition is important but people obsess on healthy diets nowdays and overload on different eating plans & a ridiculous amount of information to the point of being confused all the time...been there, done that. Just balanced healthy real food & moderation.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS, Stuff! ...I'm truly enjoying the process of getting rid of things that make no difference in my life. If its not meaningful or functional, get rid of it! haha. Such a cleansing feeling. ~ Life is short! Simplicity is better. Clutter sucks.
Enjoying the weekend at the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels
Additional Note: Sending prayers and love to my sister Katie, as she is in rehab recovering from one surgery, waiting for the next surgery a few months down the road. May God encourage you and give you strength as you heal and improve.
You are in God's care. The Lord is your healer. He cares about every detail of your life...for every part of your body. He made you and knows you. You are His child and His love for you is limitless. May each day bring new strength, new hope, and a new knowledge of just how deeply you're loved and cared for. "I am the Lord, who heals you." Exodus 15:26.
Love you sweet sister.
It’s FATHER's DAY MONTH. James F. Jenkins my dad, is gone but I will always especially
honor him on this day. He was a contractor/carpenter and worked hard to give our family
a decent life. He was a man of integrity. He was also humble, sweet, silly & funny.
Here is a very old picture of him being silly. He’s the one in the middle. Haha.
I miss him so much. Happy Fathers Day, Daddy!
